ADVENT 7110 wireless help?

i have a new ADVENT 7110 laptop and i tried seaqrching for wirelles networks and it says it cant find any in range and i no there is 1 cus my pc connects to it so plz help it also says "make sure wireless switch is on" thanks i dont have to download owt to the laptop do i cus that went through my mind cus i got a dis with the router for my pc its netgear and i thought i may have to put this on laptop. cheers
