So why Sotomayor so great?

She's getting overturned left and right by higher courts decisions. Including the most recent Supreme Court case regarding the firefighters. Please, isn't there someone who's more qualified than she is? What makes her "the" pick? Looking at her judicial history it's sketchy at best. I don't really care about her politics so much, but it seems like Obama dumped out all the judges who float on top in order to sc the bottom of the barrel. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
