Places of employment for Software Engineers?

I'm interested in pursuing a career as a Software Engineer, I was wondering if there were opportunities for Software Engineers in the Gaming Industry. I also have a interest in developing software for cellphones, ipods, blackberries, etc.. what kind of companys should I look into for employment and what are the best places to move for those type of things?
